the Triangle team is here to help!

Our team of skilled experts is dedicated to creating customized solutions that enhance security, operations, and overall comfort. Whether you’re looking to integrate smart lighting, security systems, home automation, or entertainment solutions, we’re committed to delivering unparalleled expertise and exceptional service.
We’re Shane and Lisa, and we started Daisy Triangle NC because we believe your home should work for you, not the other way around.
Shane Shissler
Shane’s path to home technology started in the Navy, where he served as a SONAR Technician. Understanding the physics of sound wasn’t academic. It was his job, and it had to be right.
That same standard followed him through years of hands-on installation work and eventually into leading global technical support organizations.
What stuck with him through all of it wasn’t any particular technology. It was a way of thinking: build it right, make it reliable, and make sure the person using it never has to think twice.
Lisa Shissler Smith
Lisa started her career as a librarian, and if that surprises you, it probably shouldn’t. Great librarianship is about understanding what someone actually needs and helping them get there.
That instinct never left her.
What came next might surprise you more. Lisa built her career into FAANG-level engineering leadership, directing teams and systems where the margin for error is essentially zero.
That’s the standard she brings to every project.
She approaches every home with the same question she’s always asked: how do people actually live here?
The precision to deliver it just happens to come with the territory.
Together
Between Shane’s deep roots in systems that can’t fail and Lisa’s experience leading engineering at the highest level, we bring both the technical rigor and the people-first sensibility that great work requires.
Not as a division of labor — as a shared standard.
We partner with homeowners, architects, and builders across the Triangle on new construction and renovations, designing systems for audio, lighting, networking, and full home integration.
Our goal is always the same: do it right the first time, and make it something you never have to worry about again.
Most of our work comes through referrals and personal connections. We think that says something, and we don’t take it lightly.
Every home gets the same care we’d want for our own.
This isn’t just about installing technology. It’s about creating a home that feels the way it should.

Smart Home Automation Solutions In And Around The Triangle and Chapel Hill, NC
The Triangle and Chapel Hill homeowners and businesses face unique challenges when integrating technology into their spaces. Historic homes in neighborhoods like Forest Hills require careful planning to avoid compromising architectural character, while new construction developments need future-proof infrastructure. Smart home automation addresses these challenges by consolidating lighting, climate control, and entertainment into systems that adapt to your specific property and routine.
Daisy has served the Triangle area for years, designing automated systems that respect Chapel Hill’s character while delivering modern functionality. Our team understands local building considerations, from working with century-old wiring in Carrboro cottages to coordinating with new construction timelines in Southern Village. We prioritize thoughtful integration over flashy features, creating systems that remain reliable and relevant for years.
Whether renovating a 1920s bungalow near downtown or outfitting a modern office space on Franklin Street, we provide consultation, installation, and local support throughout your system’s lifetime.
Why The Triangle and Chapel Hill Residents Choose Smart Home Automation
Home automation adoption has grown as remote work becomes permanent for many Triangle professionals. Homeowners working from spare bedrooms need better climate zoning to avoid cooling unused spaces, while families want automated lighting that adjusts as children move through evening routines. These practical needs drive most automation decisions, not novelty.
The Triangle and Chapel Hill’s climate makes automated shading particularly valuable. Summer sun through west-facing windows can overheat rooms by mid-afternoon, forcing air conditioning to work harder. Motorized shades programmed to close between 2-6 PM reduce heat gain by up to 30%, while smart thermostats adjust cooling based on actual occupancy rather than fixed schedules.
Energy Savings And Convenience
We typically design systems around three core functions: occupancy-based lighting, scheduled shade management, and adaptive climate control. Motion sensors turn off lights in empty rooms after 10 minutes, eliminating the most common energy waste. Shade schedules account for seasonal sun angles — summer settings differ from winter patterns.
Smart thermostats from Ecobee or similar platforms learn when you’re actually home versus when you’re at work or traveling. Many Chapel Hill clients see 15-20% reductions in HVAC runtime within the first month, particularly in larger homes where unused zones previously stayed heated or cooled unnecessarily.
Tailored Solutions For Local Lifestyles
We’ve automated everything from 900-square-foot condos near UNC to 4,000-square-foot homes in Governors Club. Each project requires different approaches. Condos need reliable Wi-Fi that penetrates concrete, while larger properties require strategic access point placement to eliminate dead zones in detached garages or backyard patios.
Historic home projects often involve creative solutions — hiding control panels in existing millwork, routing cables through attic spaces to avoid cutting into plaster walls, or using wireless protocols where running new wire isn’t practical. We work within your property’s constraints rather than forcing incompatible technology.
Our Range Of Smart Home Solutions
Our smart home installation projects integrate multiple systems through platforms like Control4, Savant, or Crestron, depending on project scope and budget. These platforms allow lighting, shading, audio, and climate to communicate, creating coordinated automation that single-purpose products can’t match.
Most residential projects start with lighting and shading, then expand to audio as clients experience the benefits of centralized control.
Lighting And Motorized Shades
Automated lighting goes beyond simple on/off control. Proper dimming curves extend LED bulb life while preventing the flickering common with incompatible dimmers. We specify compatible fixtures and controls together, avoiding the trial-and-error homeowners face buying retail products.
Motorized shades from Lutron or Hunter Douglas integrate with lighting scenes — “Movie” lowers shades and dims lights simultaneously, while “Morning” raises bedroom shades gradually as wake-up lighting brightens. UV-blocking shades protect hardwood floors and furniture without eliminating natural light entirely.
Audio And Video Entertainment
Home theater installations range from dedicated media rooms with acoustic treatments and projectors to living room systems using architectural speakers that disappear into ceilings. Multi-room audio lets you play different music in the kitchen and patio, or synchronize the same playlist throughout the house for parties.
We configure systems so anyone can play Spotify or Apple Music without understanding signal routing or input selection. One remote, one app, or simple voice commands handle everything.
Wi-Fi Networking And Connectivity
Reliable Wi-Fi requires professional site surveys and strategic access point placement. Consumer mesh systems often create coverage gaps in multi-story homes or properties with additions. We use enterprise-grade equipment from Ubiquiti or similar manufacturers, designing networks that maintain performance as you add smart locks, thermostats, and speakers.
Proper network segmentation keeps smart home devices separate from work computers, preventing compromised IoT devices from accessing sensitive data.
Smart Home Installation Timeline And Process
Most lighting and shading projects take 2-4 days for installation, plus design time. Whole-home systems with audio and networking typically require 1-2 weeks, depending on property size and construction type. We provide realistic timelines during consultation, accounting for any coordination needed with other trades.
Initial Consultation And Assessment
We visit your property to evaluate existing infrastructure, identify Wi-Fi coverage gaps, and understand your priorities. This typically takes 60-90 minutes and includes checking electrical panel capacity, testing network performance in key areas, and discussing budget ranges for different scopes.
Customized Design And Integration
Design includes detailed equipment specifications, wiring plans, and programming requirements. For renovation projects, we coordinate with general contractors and electricians to schedule work that must happen before drywall closes. New construction requires rough-in planning before framing begins.
Professional Installation And Ongoing Support
Installation includes all equipment mounting, wiring, programming, and testing. We walk you through system operation before leaving, covering common scenarios and troubleshooting basics. Our Triangle-based team handles service calls, software updates, and system expansions without requiring manufacturer technicians from out of state.
Benefits For Homeowners And Businesses
Smart homes serve residential properties and commercial spaces including medical offices, retail stores, and restaurants on Franklin Street. Business clients appreciate centralized control that any staff member can operate, plus scheduling that automatically adjusts lighting and climate outside business hours.
