Daisy Powered by Millennium Systems Design Hits a Hole-in-One with Ambitious Golf Simulation Project

How Daisy Orlando, powered by Millennium Systems Design transformed a bonus room into the ultimate golf and entertainment retreat.
For many homeowners, a bonus room is just that: a space with potential, waiting for a purpose. For one golf enthusiast living in a golf course community, the vision for the largely unused space was clear: Outfit it with an advanced home golf simulator where he could practice, play, and entertain. What he didn’t anticipate was how the plan would expand into a professionally designed, fully integrated entertainment space, one that now serves as the central gathering spot for his family and friends. With thoughtful curation of home tech products and seamless integration of a diverse collection of smart systems, the tech experts at Orlando, Fla.-based Millennium Systems Design (MSD), a Daisy partner, turned an unfinished room into a remarkable lifestyle upgrade that provides hours of enjoyment, both on and off the course.
From Rough Blueprint to Back Nine Bliss
The client discovered MSD through a Google search while researching purveyors of golf simulators. A visit to MSD’s expansive state-of-the-art design center sealed the deal. There, with guidance from an MSD tech advisor, he tested a Golfzon simulation studio firsthand. Replete with a 15-foot-wide high-impact screen and cutting-edge features like an AI-enabled auto-tee and a moving floor that mimics uphill and downhill lies, the impressive setup set the renovation wheels in motion.
But MSD’s team believed the space could benefit from more than just a golf simulator. Leveraging Modus VR’s design platform, they transformed the client’s blueprint into immersive 3D renderings of the entire 500-square-foot space in real time. On a massive 92-inch display at the MSD showroom, the client was able to explore different layouts, finishes, and seating configurations. After virtually “walking” through the design, he embraced a far more ambitious vision: a full golf simulator bay that doubles as a home theater, a sophisticated, color-changing lighting system, multiple backlit TVs, lounge-style seating, and personalized controls to change the vibe on a whim.
“Modus VR is like our ace in the hole,” says MSD’s Taylor Barry. “It lets clients visualize the space instantly and test different configurations before a single wall is built. For projects like this, it’s a game-changer.”
The Build-Out: Driving the Design
Transforming the barebones bonus room into a multifunctional entertainment hub required a full build-out. New subflooring, structural modifications, and wall construction provided the foundation. The golf simulator required 11-foot ceilings and a 15-foot-wide projection screen, tight dimensions that MSD navigated with precision. MSD outfitted the owner’s bonus room bay with the same auto-tee system and moving floor as their showroom simulator, creating an authentic playing experience.
To elevate the experience, on the left side of the simulator, MSD added an automated net system that deploys at the touch of a button. This protects the room while preserving aesthetics when not in use. On the right, retractable curtains block sunlight from a window overlooking the golf course, ensuring the simulator delivers crystal-clear visuals any time of day.
The Clubhouse Experience: Entertainment Beyond Golf
While golf was the original inspiration for the makeover, MSD transformed the space into a true all-around entertainment hub. The standard projector included with the Golfzon simulator was upgraded to a high-performance 4K LG model, giving the homeowner an entirely new way to enjoy the simulator screen. Beyond practicing drives and putts, the bay now doubles as a full-fledged home theater for movie nights and video gaming. With Roku integrated with the projector, streaming is just a click away.
To expand the versatility even further, MSD mounted four 65-inch Samsung QLED 4K displays above the bar for endless viewing flexibility. Each display is connected to its own source, so the homeowner, a die-hard NFL fan, can keep tabs on multiple games at once. A Control4 system and Halo remote make it simple to switch between inputs and manage the entire room with ease.
Audio received the same level of attention and multi-functional design. Origin Acoustics in-ceiling speakers, powered by a Triad amplifier, deliver crisp, room-filling sound. The system ties into the client’s existing Sonos ecosystem via a Sonos Amp, allowing audio to sync with other zones of the house or play independently. Whether it’s golf, football, a blockbuster movie, or background music for entertaining, the room adapts seamlessly to the moment.
No matter the activity, MSD ensured the new Lutron RadioRA lighting control system enhances the experience. A single tap of the “Golf Right” button illuminates the right side of the tee box, while “Golf Left” lights the opposite side, perfect for both right- and left-handed players. For movie nights, a “Movie” scene sets the perfect cinematic mood, while color-changing LEDs behind the TVs let the homeowner adjust the ambiance directly from an app. To complete the effect, WAC track lighting highlights key areas of the renovated rec room, all with the effortless convenience of a button press.
A Lifestyle Upgrade: From Bonus Room to 19th Hole
What was once an underutilized bonus room is now a 500-square-foot retreat where the family gathers for golf, movies, and game-day watch parties.
By pairing the precision of golf simulation with the artistry of home technology integration, MSD delivered a project that’s both functional and unforgettable. The careful curation of displays, audio, lighting, and control systems ensured that the space is as versatile as it is impressive.
From teeing off on virtual fairways to cheering on favorite teams, this retrofit project proves that with the right vision and the right partner any room can become a hole-in-one.
